The French Roundabout - Home

The French Roundabout are Jimi-Carlo Bukowski-Wills, Rory Harper, Karen Hegney and Neil Mitchard.

The French Roundabout was started in mid 2010 when Rory Harper (Drums & Percussion), Jimi-Carlo Bukowski-Wills (Guitar & Vocals) and Neil Mitchard (Bass) decided to get together for a few practice sessions. From this a band (at this point unnamed) was formed and they began to practice as regularly as possible. They then set about developing a set-list that would encompass the musical tastes of all three members (which, in some areas, varied wildly). In November of 2010, Karen Hegney began to attend practice sessions and then joined the band later that month as an additional vocalist, enabling the lead role to be swapped on some occasions and also enabling the band to have a more complete sound and to cover songs where complex harmonies were one of the key features.

At this point a name for the band had still not been decided, throughout the band's short life the four members had thrown several ideas around ranging from "Jefferson Spitfire" to "Synthetic Pig Generation" (Although this name was not considered as a serious idea, I hope). However, one time after a practice session the road outside the practice rooms was set out in a strange way due to roadworks and Neil was forced to drive around the mini roundabout nearby the wrong way. Afterwards he then said that it had reminded him of his time in France. The roundabout outside the practice rooms was then lovingly donned 'The French Roundabout' by the band members (Who for fun, and when the road was quiet, would sometimes drive around the roundabout the wrong way upon leaving their practice sessions). The band then decided that they had found an ideal name and they too became known as 'The French Roundabout'.
